Shell believes greater transparency about the payments we make to governments is an important way to increase trust. We pay taxes and royalties to governments around the world. We are reporting our payments to governments under a variety of rules and regulations, such as the EU Accounting Directive.

This is also a key reason why we are a founding member of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), which launched in 2002. [Country name] joined the EITI in [year]. The EITI works to increase the transparency of revenues governments receive from oil and mineral activities.
